On June 19, 2023, the Provincial Government of Camarines Norte commemorates the 162nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the Rizal Monument in Daet, which was the first monument built to honor the national hero of the Philippines. This is an important event since Rizal is one of the most revered figures in Philippine history. He was a multifaceted intellectual and a political activist, best known for his political writings that inspired the Philippine revolution and ultimately led to his execution by the Spanish colonizers.
The celebration was led by Governor Ricarte "Dong" Padilla and Vice Governor Engr. Joseph V. Ascutia. The Armed Forces of the Philippines, as well as the Philippine National Police, were also present at the said event. Mr. Abel C. Icatlo, the Museum Curator gave his remarks and paid tribute to Rizal's life and legacy. The program ended with a wreath-laying ceremony initiated by government officials.
